A note from the artist - Birdman:
Chest Logo: A compilation of the most important elements of my art. This logo displays a pyramid (with the exact angles of the great pyramid of Giza), eagle, mountain, ocean below with sunshine reflection. I have the pyramid reflecting itself to visualize the ancient texts from the emerald tablets, "as above so below", emphasizing the interconnectedness of all things. Above, referring to the spiritual heavenly realms, while below, representing the material physical world. We are on a journey of self discovery to understand the larger scheme of existence.
Back Design: I was gifted an Aztec necklace from my wife's grandmother after her passing and was inspired to bring it to life on paper. I have a strong connection to the Mayan history and culture, and it was a natural transition to take a deep dive into the Aztecs. You're looking at the Aztec calendar here, otherwise known as the sun stone, or stone of the 5 eras. A thing of precise dating and beauty. Every single point on the calendar has significant meaning. The giant 20 ton stone was carved in the 15th century. This calendar was not just a tool for measuring time, but also had deep cultural significance, representing the Aztec understanding of the cyclical nature of the universe and their place within it. They used the movement of the sun to determine the length of the solar year and the timing of agricultural activities. Both the Aztec and Mayan calendars show us their ability to accurately measure time and track astronomical phenomena. Both cultures shared many similarities as they were both established in Central America, including their calendars. The Aztec calendar is believed to have been influenced by the older Maya calendar, and also the Olmec civilization, who were known for their advanced understanding of astronomy. Both had two calendars. Both had 52 year cycles. Both had a 260 day cycle, using a combo of 20 day signs and 13 numbers. And no, none of this was to date the end of the world, but rather, a spiritual shift or to new beginnings on Earth. Can you spot the big eagle in this photo?
Something to keep in mind...
all logos may peel over time, leaving a darker logo where the sun didn't shine in its place (which we think you'll appreciate). We don't believe in perfection, this project is about watching things naturally fade and there is no way to predict what 1-2 months in sun, rain, and wind can do to a printed garment
